Amul spreads its wings, expands portfolio to frozen, ready-to-eat food range

From dairy and ready-to-eat to frozen foods, Amul is booming. CNBC-TV18 lets you get the most out of Amul’s growth playbook.
After selling only milk, butter and cheese 75 years ago, Amul has expanded his portfolio to sell chocolates, drinks and spreads over the years and following the COVID-19 pandemic he is considering a full-fledged branded food game. The paradigm shift in consumer demand towards branded, yet affordable, foods has given new impetus to the ready-to-eat food industry during the pandemic. Even established food players like Amul are now expanding their portfolios to capitalize on demand. According to Amul, the biggest market to explore is in small towns and rural India.
With a cold room supply chain already in place, frozen food was a natural area of expansion for Amul. The lockdowns caused by the pandemic are the best time to test the market and Amul has kept his promise. Amul is now partnering directly with farmers to source ingredients to expand its line of frozen and ready-to-eat foods.
