Karnataka: Yadgir Pharma Park to get seven more projects
Here’s some good news for the people of Kalyana Karnataka , the region which has remained industrially backward as compared to other parts of the state. The state government has allotted land for seven projects of pharmaceutical companies that are investing Rs 123 crore at Kadechur village in Yadgir district. These units are expected to create 633 jobs for youths. These proposals are expected to get clearance from the single window clearance committe (SWCC) chaired by large and medium industries minister Jagadish Shettar by the end of April. Shettar told TOI that the government has already given nod to 16 pharmaceutical and drugs industries that are investing Rs 962.5 crore and will create 3,000 jobs. “Now land has been allotted to seven more industries. Responding to our pro-industry measures, 7-8 investors are coming forward every month to set up their units in the state. The proposed pharma park has also evoked interest among pharmaceutical companies of Hyderabad, Mumbai and other cities. We visited Kadechur in January and reviewed the developments there. Many industries have already started construction,” he shared.
Karnataka Udyog Mitra managing director HM Revannagowda said that the seven proposals were cleared during the 83rd Land Audit Committee (LAC) meeting held on March 31 in Bengaluru. “Normally once they get cleared in LAC , there won’t be any hurdle to get the nod from SWCC. The next meeting of SWCC will be held in the third week of this month,” he stated. Welcoming the move, Kanthilal Dhoka, vice-president, Yadgir district Chamber of Commerce and Industry, noted that infrastructure development is very slow in Kadechur. “It should be expedited. Though some industries have started construction, it requires 6-8 months more to launch production. This whole process is going on from 6-7 years but government should ensure starting production at the earliest,” he underlined.
