McDonald’s drops tomatoes from its menu amidst rising prices of the vegetable

Popular fast-food chain McDonald’s has recently made a significant change in its menu owing to the rising price of tomatoes. As per reports, the fast-food chain has stopped using tomatoes in various parts of the country. This move comes as a surprise to many loyal patrons who were accustomed to enjoying the juicy tomato slice nestled within their favourite burgers.
The company is experiencing challenges in sourcing fresh and ripe tomatoes consistently, and thus they have made this difficult choice of removing them from its menu temporarily.
This drop can be seen in the North and East locations of fast food chain. The food chain have already hung a notice about the unavailability of tomatoes from their burgers and wraps at most of their outlets.
The notice hung outside McDonald’s outlets reads, “Dear Customers, we are ever committed to serving you the best food with the best of ingredients. Despite our best efforts, we are not able to get adequate quantities of tomatoes which pass our world-class stringent quality checks. Hence, for the time being we are forced to serve you products without tomatoes. Rest assured; we are working to get the tomato supplies back. We value your patronage and regret the inconvenience caused.”
Regular McDonald’s customers in India may need to adjust their taste preferences for the time being, as the absence of tomatoes from the menu might take some getting used to. However, the company’s commitment to quality and customer satisfaction remains unwavering.
The tomato prices have been soaring high for many days and the vegetable is being sold at INR 165-180 per kilogram. Many tomato vendors have stated that due to this shortage, people have stopped buying tomatoes, and their business is also getting affected by the same. While these tomato vendors earlier used to sell around 40 kgs of the vegetable, now they are selling just 5-10 kgs.
If you are also stressed about the rising tomato prices, then here are a few ways you can flavour the dishes without using this vegetable.
