Mr Nandkishor Kagliwal, noted industrialist, educationist and thought leader elected as Chairman of Federation of Indian Export Organizations (FIEO), Western Region.
FIEO is an apex body of exporters under the Ministry of Commerce, Government of India. FIEO also has all export promotion council and export promotion boards as members affiliated to it. Western Region of FIEO has membership exceeding 11,000 and contributes over 65% of country’s exports. FIEO is basically involved in policy advocacy, capacity building through seminars, workshops for exports and resolving numerous challenges and issues faced by exporters.
Economic growth of China and other East Asian countries such as Korea, Singapore and Hong Kong was largely driven by their exports. India’s export for last six years have stagnated around USD 300 billion.
According to Mr Kagliwal, large number of industries in Marathwada have now acquired scale and excellence to be able to compete internationally. Our region has potential to emerge as an export hub for Automobile, Automobile Ancillaries, Pharmaceuticals, Steel and also wide range of agricultural produce such as pulses, spices, fruits and vegetables.
It is expected that with Mr Kagliwal being at the helm of FIEO, there shall be a boost for export from Marathwada.
