Nova IVF Clinic to Open 100 More Centers in Next 4 Years

Nova IVF Fertility, one of the largest chains of infertility treatment clinics in India, has ambitious plans to expand its network to 100 centers within the next four years. Through a combination of organic growth and acquisitions, Nova aims to achieve this significant expansion. Vishal Bali, the Executive Chairman of Asia Healthcare Holdings (AHH), the promoter of the healthcare platform, stated that they are already ahead of their initial goal of 45 centers by 2023, currently operating 62 centers.
AHH, a firm specializing in single-specialty healthcare, acquired Nova in 2019, and since then, the growth trajectory has been rapid. Bali expressed confidence that they will reach the milestone of 100 centers by the fiscal year 2027, driven by a consistent strategy of organic and inorganic growth.
The regulatory compliance requirements in the assisted reproductive technology (ART) sector are expected to facilitate consolidation. The Surrogacy (Regulation) Act 2021 and the Assisted Reproductive Technology (Regulation) Act 2021, which came into effect in 2022, aim to regulate and supervise ART clinics, laboratories, and banks to prevent any misuse of procedures.
Bali highlighted that stringent regulatory compliance will bring additional costs to the clinics, leading to increased consolidation and growth in the sector. He noted that about 90% of Nova’s work is related to ‘self-cycle IVF,’ a process that aligns with the ART Act. Self-cycle IVF involves using the couple’s own gametes, while donor-cycle IVF involves the use of gametes from a donor.
The Indian IVF market is anticipated to witness substantial growth, expanding from $793 million in 2020 to $3,722 million by 2030, with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 16.5%. This growth is attributed to the rising prevalence of infertility issues, as reported by Allied Market Research.
