Nuziveedu Seeds Limited: 50 Years of Pioneering Excellence in Agriculture

As Nuziveedu Seeds Limited (NSL) commemorates five decades of dedicated service to the agricultural community, it’s a momentous occasion to extend gratitude to the numerous individuals who have contributed to its remarkable journey. Celebrating its 50 years of service on February 3rd, 2024, NSL marked the occasion as “Swarnotsav.” Adding to the grandeur of the event was the presence of the 13th Vice President of India, Sri Muppavarapu Venkaiah Naidu, who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
Established in 1973 by Shri Mandava Venkata Ramaiah, an agricultural technologist, NSL has evolved under the leadership of Dr. M. Prabhakar Rao, the current Chairman and Managing Director, who assumed leadership in 1982. Dr. Rao’s guidance has propelled NSL to become a market leader renowned for its pioneering work in hybrid cotton seeds.

The festivities commenced with the lighting of the lamp, a symbolic gesture of invoking blessings, followed by an invocatory classical dance performance. The entire NSL family, including Founding Chairman Sri M. Venkataramaiah and his wife, Mrs. Rama Devi, along with Chairman and Managing Director Sri M. Prabhakar Rao and Mrs. M. Asha Priya, were honored. Also present were the third-generation leaders, Mr. M. Venkat Ram and his wife Mrs. M. Aishwarya, accompanied by their little ones, Aadhya and Armita. Alongside them, the stalwarts of NSL, Dr. P. Sateesh Kumar, Director, and Mr. K. Venkat Rao, COO, who have been associated with the company since its inception, were felicitated, emphasizing their invaluable contributions.
The event progressed with a heartfelt address by Founding Chairman Sri M. Venkataramaiah, who shared his ideology and vision behind the establishment of NSL. He recounted the challenges faced by farmers in his childhood, particularly the lack of quality seeds leading to poor crop yields. Dr. P. Sateesh Kumar, in his address, recounted untold anecdotes reflecting the dynamic personality of Prabhakar Rao Sir and commended the NSL workforce for their dedication in turning passion and vision into reality. A poignant touch was added by the motivational speech delivered by Brother Ramakrishna from Brahmakumaris, inspiring the audience with his words.
The Chief Guest of the Event, Former Vice-President M. Venkaiah Naidu delivered an inspiring speech, calling for agricultural innovation for global leadership. He commended the Union Government, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, for its commitment to the agricultural sector. He praised NSL’s CMD Prabhakar Rao’s approach to serve the nation and urged companies to invest in Research and Development (R&D) for sustainable growth.
Dr. Prabhakar Rao outlined NSL’s ambitious plans for expansion, aiming to reach farmers not only across different states in India but also globally. With 13 processing plants and 29 cold storage units in 10 states, NSL boasts over 150 scientists dedicated to seed research. The company plans to outpace the international seed market’s growth rate by setting an ambitious target of 20% and aims to release 33 new seeds in the next 12 months, spanning varieties in cotton, corn, hybrid paddy, and oil seeds.
The longstanding employees of NSL, serving for 5+ to 30+ years, were honoured with Long Service Awards, acknowledging their commitment and loyalty. The launch of the NSL Corporate Movie and Leader’s Bytes provided insights into the company’s journey and ethos, as described by the leadership team. The jubilation and enthusiasm were palpable as NSL employees showcased their talent through a captivating dance and song performance, leaving the audience mesmerized. . The celebratory mood was further enhanced by captivating performances, including vocal renditions by a professional music troupe, freestyle fusion performances and Karaoke.
In essence, NSL’s 50th anniversary celebration, “Swarnotsav,” was not just a milestone but a testament to its legacy of innovation, resilience, and unwavering commitment to the farming community.
