The Glenmark Nutrition Awards 2021: Celebrating the warriors who fought the hunger pandemic

The Glenmark Nutrition Awards was organised in partnership with the UN World Food Programme and Idobro Impact Solutions during the RISE World Summit which was held on 28th-29th January 2021. Conceived as a platform to recognize non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and individuals who undertook exceptional efforts during the Covid-19 pandemic, the Nutrition Awards received over 220 entries from across the length and breadth of the country. They were announced during the finale of The RISE World Summit on 29th Jan, 2021 in the presence of attendees from across the world. The awards categorised under the Urban NGOs, Rural NGOs & Open (Individuals, CBOs, Voluntary Groups, etc. were presented to – Impactree Data Technologies (Open); Indigenous Development Organisation (I-DO) (Rural) and Khaana Chahiye and Project Mumbai (Urban). The esteemed Grand Jury members who selected the winners from the top 9 entries were – Dr. Satish Agnihotri Head (CTARA) –IIT -Bombay, Dr. R. Hemalatha Director, ICMR-NIN, Hyderabad; Neeraj Jain, Country Director–PATH, Vedeika Shekhar, Associate-NITI Aayog. The awards programme was also attended by renowned personalities such as Mr. Bishow Parajuli – Country Representative and Director UN World Food Programme, and Mr.Philip Kotler- Author, Distinguished Prof. The Kellogg School of Management, Mr. Yosef Abramowitz, CEO – Energyia, who was nominated thrice for the Nobel Prize.
Speaking on the issue of malnutrition and hunger plaguing the world, distinguished author Philip Kotler said, “Hunger is inexcusable. We need to have more mindful consumption – people are either eating too much or too little. And equally important is mindful production where businesses must have an eye on waste.” A special message by Mr. Amitabh Kant- CEO NITI Aayog acknowledging Glenmark Foundation and the awards was also presented.
